Wow. I've been hanging out for a non-frying zucchini blossom recipe since I started having handfuls of the things opening on my plants every day. Zucchini blossom pasta, zucchini blossom frittata- these things are fabulous but I've been looking for something with a lil more excitement (but not the oil level of the traditional recipe). This sounds like a total go-er. Might even try it for Christmas lunch... So thanks for that!

A reader emailed me ages ago with a spanish stone soup recipe. Will have to suss out the Portugese version. I visited Portugal a few years ago and just loved the food and the people.

You're right I did name my blog after the story. For the full reason check out the 'why stonsoup' page on the top left hand corner.

Hilliary,
You don't have to be sad or wait until next year. Just head south.

Yum! I love squash blossoms. I've always wanted to try them fried, but have had them broiled before. They are great, given a quick chop and wilted with some caramelized onions in a cheesy quesadilla. Hooray for eating flowers, even if Mr. Ideas wasn't game.

Last weekend I tried your yogurt sorbet, and it was delicious...I served with honey, and it was even better!
I am a usual reader of Stone soup, and i like it a lot!
I am from Portugal and i also have a food blog (in portuguese).
I´ve published your recipe with a link to your blog. Hope you don´t mind. (http://paracozinhar.blogspot.com/2007/10/sorbet-de-iogurte.html)
By the way, do you know that in Portugal we have "Stone Soup"? It´s de tipical dish from a town called Almeirim, near Santarém.
And the story of the creation of that stone soup, is the a tradicional story of our culture? And Is the same story that gave the name to your blog?

Zucchini blossoms without the deep-frying trouble - how good is that! I would have never thought about doing it this way. Beautiful, delicate pictures!
