If someone was mean enough to force me to pick my favourite food writer, St Nigel would win. Hands down.
So I’ve been saving his book ‘The Kitchen Diaries’ for a while. I’ve been putting off even starting to read it because I knew it would be over too too quickly.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, The Kitchen Diaries has exceeded some pretty high expectations.
Not only that. It completely inspired me.
You see, one of the reasons I started Stonesoup was to keep track of what I was cooking. A way to make sure I wrote down the things I loved so down the track I would be able to recreate that wonderful soup, delicious cake or whatever.
Over the years, Stonesoup has evolved to much more than a kitchen diary. It started with photographs. And then came the videos. All of which I just love doing. But they do take time.
I timed myself recently and it takes about 6 hours to pull together a blog post. From cooking to videoing to photographing to writing to uploading to editing. You get the picture.
So even though I’d love to post more regularly, it just isn’t practical.
But reading The Kitchen Diaries gave me a (I like to think) brilliant idea…
Why not start a companion blog that just focuses on recipes and tips? A way to quickly share what I’ve been cooking.
And so ladies and gentleman, I give you The Stonesoup Diaries.
