FREE 3-Micro Habits to Lose Weight (without trying)
Hi, I’m Jules Clancy.
I absolutely love food. Like, really love it.
Especially cheese and ice cream. Not necessarily together, though I’d never say no to a good cheesecake ice cream.
I’m the kind of person whose major life decisions have revolved around food. Who to marry. What to study. I plan my holidays around restaurant reservations.
So when left school, Food Science at the University of New South Wales felt like the obvious choice. I also have a degree in winemaking. Yes, really. And a side career as a winemaker in the early 2000s to prove it.
I started my blog Stonesoup back in 2005. I wrote a book called Five Ingredients, 10 Minutes. My whole background is built around food.
But here’s what I didn’t talk about for a long time.
Even with all of that (all the love, all the knowledge, all the credentials) my relationship with food was a mess.
I loved food, but I was terrified of gaining weight. I was always thinking about what I’d eaten, what I shouldn’t eat, why I couldn’t stop.
It was this constant battle between loving food and not feeling good in my clothes.
Sound familiar?

How Everything Changed
In 2020, I took a coaching course on intuitive eating and learning to listen to my body.
But I should mention it wasn’t my first attempt. I’d heard about intuitive eating a couple of years earlier and tried it on my own. My weight started creeping up and I thought, nope, that’s not working. So I abandoned it.
What made the difference the second time was having a coach and actually understanding what I was supposed to be doing.
When I learned how to be intentional with my food choices, to notice when my body was satisfied and stop eating at that point, all the drama just melted away.
I was eating what I wanted. I wasn’t eating too much. My weight took care of itself.
It felt like I’d discovered the secret to the universe.
I couldn’t keep it to myself. A few months later, I started a coaching group that’s now called the Naturally Healthy Club. Because I had to teach this to other food lovers.
I also got certified in health coaching through PreCure, so I could properly support people through the behaviour change side of things.

The Third Option Nobody Talks About
Here’s the story we’re told. You either restrict (Weight Watchers, carnivore, calorie counting) and that’s how you stay healthy. Or you love food, eat what you want, and pay for it with your health and your waistline.
Most of us spend years swinging between those two options.
But there’s a third option. I call it being naturally healthy.
It means eating whatever you want (no food rules, no off-limits lists) while listening to your body so you’re not eating more than it actually needs (most of the time).
When you get that quantity piece right, something magical happens. You eat what you want. You feel great in your body. You wear the clothes you want to wear. You’re not missing out on anything.
It feels so empowering.
And it’s absolutely sustainable.

This Works Even When Life Gets Complicated
I’m in my early 50s. I have diabetes and PCOS. Those are two conditions normally associated with weight gain.
And yet, because I’m listening to my body and adjusting as I go, my weight has stayed stable through perimenopause and all the stress and hormonal shifts that come with it.
This isn’t about being lucky or having perfect genes. It’s about having the right tools.
