[dropcap style=”font-size: 60px; color: #00adef;”] E[/dropcap]ver since my Food Science Degree, I’ve been fascinated by all things nutrition. Especially how to simplify nutrition.

While there have been times I’ve found it incredibly confusing,

These days I feel crystal clear about it.

I love the guidelines I learned last year during my PreKure Health Coaching Certificate

Because they focus more on how to eat.

Rather than specific nutrients, food groups and diets.

How to Simplify Nutrition

Choose nutritious whole, unprocessed foods that are ethically produced and local where possible.

Minimize food that comes in packages.

If you are eating packaged food, seek out options that contain 5 ingredients or less (sound familiar?!)

Choose vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, seafood, poultry, pork, organ meats, dairy, nuts, seeds, legumes, as tolerated.

Opt for traditional fats and oils over highly processed, refined oils.

Forget about avoiding saturated fat.

Minimize total sugar, added and intrinsic.

Plan your time to make cooking and eating an important part of your lifestyle.

It’s about eating mindfully.

Sharing food with family and friends.

And understanding what works for you isn’t necessarily the best for someone else.

What do you think?

How do these guidelines sound to you?

I’d love to hear in the comments below.

As always, thank you for reading Stonesoup.

I really appreciate you!

Have fun in the kitchen,

With love,
Jules x

  • Hi Jules! Could you tell us some more about “Forget about avoiding saturated fat”? I would love to read more about this!

  • Hello lovely Jules from Down Under,
each & every single mail from you is simply astonishing for the severely renitent meal-producer (66 old female in Austria), being your member since last automn and bought 2 of your books….. But only after my stomach sleeve resection in August 2020 I will organize, buy, cook, read, think, live in Stonesoup concepts – “Sopa da pedra” in Portuguese, when poor farmers working for rich feudalist families before Revolution 1974 put stones in their water & grass soup to shut down hunger keeping them in the mouth for a while.
Not the case with you! I will be as healthy as never before, I’m sure.

    • Lovely Chritsa!

So fun to have a reader in Austria. I loved Salzburg when I visited years ago.

Yes you will be as healthy as never before. You can do it. But why not start now?

      Jx

  • I love these guidelines! They make perfect sense, and they are practical. If we eat according to these guidelines we can be healthy without being up on the latest nutritional research, and without being experts in organic chemistry and the like. What’s not to like about common sense?

    • Glad you like them Susan :)

Yes there’s definitely no need to be an expert in Organic Chemistry to eat well.
